REBOOT Researchers met the public on the European Night of Researchers 2024 (BRIGHT - NIGHT) in Pisa!
On 27 September 2024, the REBOOT Research Team of Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna (Pisa, Italy) participated in the annual “BRIGHT-NIGHT: European Night of Researchers 2024” to meet and talk with cinema enthusiasts visiting the event venue from Pisa and its surroundings.
Held under the auspices of the European Commission, BRIGHT-NIGHT is a cultural and scientific initiative dedicated to spreading science and culture through a series of events, workshops, interactive sessions, experiments and presentations. Standing for “Brilliant Researchers Impact on Growth, Health and Trust” in research, BRIGHT-NIGHT creates a vibrant atmosphere by transforming – only for a night – publicly accessible places such as town squares, community parks, university premises and even pubs and bars, into venues where the citizens can meet researchers, hear about their research activities and scientific/cultural output – or even be part of these research endeavours.
Having the opportunity to be part of this unique experience, the REBOOT researchers of Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna held a stand at the premises of one of Sant’Anna’s historical buildings, Palazzo Pilo Boyl, from 5 to 11 pm. They presented the REBOOT Project and encouraged citizens of all ages to engage with the Project’s ambitions and tasks. REBOOT attracted the attention of a wide range of visitors who engaged in a conversation with the research team about the current status and the future trajectories of the European Film Industry.
The REBOOT stand was a hot spot also for the younger cinema enthusiasts. The research team was delighted to talk to kids and their families, teenagers and young adults and to hear about their opinions on cinema. The BRIGHT-NIGHT was also a great opportunity to involve teenagers and young adults in some of the participatory research activities carried out in the context of the project, such as focus groups and surveys on young audiences’ preferences of cinematographic content.
Whilst the memories of the BRIGHT-NIGHT 2024 are still fresh, the REBOOT researchers are already excited for next year’s event. Stay tuned!
